501K MODULAR EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
In the world of plant, equipment and availability; time equals cost. Equipment down time equals revenue lost. Rental equipment equals cost plus incurred.
Most, if not all 501K engine overhauls take thirty (30) calendar days or more to complete. This time frame is difficult to compact further, especially if the overhaul centre is busy and has a production schedule which it must adhere to. So in most cases, this thirty day period is filled by a rental engine, supplied at a commercial rate inclusive or daily and per fired hour charges.
This rental can add another £20K GBP ($40K USD) to a clients overhaul invoice.
It is also recognised that most 501K engines in operation today are not being held to a thirty-thousand operating hour overhaul programme. The majority of KB/KB5 engines now realise 35K to 40K fired hours on their turbine modules, with the compressors being pushed to 50K fired hours and beyond, subject to performance.
This disconnect in the service life of the 501K engine is an important factor for the operator to acknowledge. Simply put; the premature overhauling of a serviceable engine or module will remove any residual value that would have been gained as operation revenue should the engine / module have remained in service.
In recognition that there are more cost effective ways, TSS has developed a 501K modular exchange programme, which is designed to support both scheduled and unscheduled engine outages.
TSS Ltd has the following engine modules available for sale or exchange:
501KB compressor module
501KB5 (high torque) compressor module
- 501 KB hot section
- 501 KB5 hot section
- 501-KC hot section
All exchange modules are offered with an extensive warranty and are supported by a certificate of certification (CofC) from the overhaul centre establishing OEM material embodiment.
In the event that an operator has to embrace a rental engine concept, TSS Ltd can support operators with a variety of options, including lease engine(s) and modules.
Currently TSS Ltd has the following engine models available for lease:
- 501KB – TIT controlled
- 501-KB5 – TOT controlled
All lease engines / modules are subject to availability at the time of application and due acceptance of TSS lease agreement. All lease engines / modules are supplied exclusive of any shipping charges and any associated customs and duty payments where applicable, which are invoiceable to the client.
