MATERIALS OF CHOICE
In general terms, most industrial gas turbine operators who purchase and embody non-OEM material do so because of a desired cost saving. Part quality, warranty, sustainability and cost are certainly factors for consideration in this decision making process.
Gas turbine engines are by default, highly tuned pieces of mechanical excellence, designed to rotate at high speeds whilst generating higher levels of energy. It is generally accepted therefore that companies who manufacture gas turbine engines are best suited to supply parts for gas turbine engines. But is that strictly true or are we simply encouraged to think along thoes lines thus maintaining OEM revenue streams?
In truth there are now several component part manufacturing companies supplying non-OEM parts to a large number of aircraft operators, both civil and military. From a general public perspective, there can be no doubting the levels of engineering and quality control within the aviation industry as it is simply second to none. So if we accept the levels of safety entwined within air travel, which to many of us is now as common as taking a bus and statistically safer, why then do we so strongly question non-OEM parts in our land based gas turbines?
In support of its clients, TSS has strived to maintain a level playing field with material choice options and in doing so, TSS has identified one manufacturer that meets both the aviation industry expectations as well as those of its clients. This company is; Pacific Sky Supply.
The policy of TSS is simple: TSS supports and actively promotes the use of OEM material at all times. TSS does also recognise that once purchased, ownership of an engine passes to the customer. TSS acknowledges and respects the client’s rights and ability to make there own decisions.
